Do you want to manage your weight more effectively? Reduce your body fat? Know your training zones and start actually planning your cardio? If the answer is YES, read on...

SO WHAT IS INVOLVED?

The assessment is in two parts : the RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) and the Exercise assessment {VO2Max/Sub-Max}.

RMR

Everybody's RMR is different and can be increased or decreased.

RMR is measured and expressed as the number of daily calories you need to maintain your current weight. Knowing this allows a deficit figure to be agreed in order to achieve responsible and sustainable weight loss, or indeed gain, over time. The calorific guidelines you see on food packaging are 'guesstimates' not measurements. They are at best misleading and can actually lead many people to put weight on if followed!

When we exercise we use a combination of fuel sources; deposited body fat and stored carbohydrates (muscle glycogen).

As we start to work harder, we initially increase the amount of fat we use up to a maximal point referred to as one's fat-bump'.

Beyond this point our calories increasingly come from carbohydrates until, at our anaerobic threshold (and beyond) we are burning no fat at all. This scenario is true for all humans, but the points at which these metabolic changes occur are as individual as a finger print and can only be measured.

This information will form the basis of training zones and exercise prescriptions that have been scientifically measured and are unique to you. You will now have the necessary information to optimise your training and ensure the maximum return for the earnest investment you make. There is no role for chance or maybe, just the confidence-inspiring sureties of knowing you are doing the right thing, every time you train!
